When my beloved 1966 Hofner bass pick up went dead, I sent it to James after a few very interesting phone conversations. He quickly discovered a broken wire and a simple fix, and sent it back quickly with only a nominal charge. Thanks James!

Big thanks to James at BTone Pickups! He installed a new pickup in my guitar and did an amazing job. The guitar sounds better than ever, and James was great to deal with throughout the whole process he was friendly, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about guitars and tone.

If you’re thinking about upgrading your pickups, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend BTone Pickups. Outstanding service and excellent results.

I recently had a set of BTone pickups installed by James in one of my P-basses and let me tell you, these things sing! As a very dynamic player (some say ham-fisted), I look for gear that emphasizes all the little clicks and pops of my calloused fingertips on the strings (generally well aged). These pickups deliver on every level and have a prominent, honk in the mid range that I love. That paired with a bigger, rounder bottom end is the recipe for tone. Don’t just trust me, James or anyone else. Trust your ears!

Easily my best experience buying pickups. He wound them for me to spec, and cut custom coloured bobbins. But the really impressive part was when I plugged in and heard them. I bought the pair of hum buckers for a guitar I was getting ready to sell. I had pulled out the factory pickups and used them in a different instruments, because I loved the sound of them. But when I put in the BTone pickups, the guitar I was going to sell now sounded too good to sell! I highly recommend BTone.

I had always planned on switching out the pickups in my Mexican strat. But after seeing James Buddy Rogers play And hearing the tone coming out of his Strat, I knew I had to find out what pickups he was using.

Well, now that I have his handmade B10 pickups installed, I can’t believe the transformation in my tone, in all 5 switch positions! It’s that classic Strat tone I’ve been striving to hear in my guitar for years. I couldn’t be happier!

I highly recommend BTone pickups! James took the time to go through with me what pickups would best suit my needs. He’s extremely knowledgable and has a variety of pickups for every tone you could desire!
Definitely check them out.

I was gifted a set of strat pickups from my good buddy Hatzic Steve, and knew I had to get it right as I knew what I was looking for, just needed to find the right ones. Through getting in touch with Btone pickups and explaining to James what I was looking for, he recommended I try the B10s. I encourage any Strat player to give these a shot. Wow! I was apprehensive at first about them having a lower DC resistance rating that they wouldn’t have the guts, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. They scream when you want them too, with amazing sustain, but also clean right up, super bright and glassy, and a surprising amount of sweetness! They really cover the whole spectrum for me at least, a blues and country player. I didn’t want to review right away until I’ve played it on stage a couple of times but this guitar looks to be my number one for most gigs moving forward. Absolutely love the B10s! I’ll be 100% going with Btone again in the future.

Recently installed B-Tone "juiced" pickups into my reissue '51 Nocaster. The pickup are much improved over the stock pickups. Sound guys notice the even tonal response and reduced 2K hertz spike. This is now my #1 guitar. Thanks B-Tone!

Btone B94 Legacy Pickups – World-Class Tone and Versatility

The Btone B94 Legacy pickups are truly outstanding. Their versatility is exceptional — from warm, articulate cleans to rich, dynamic overdrive, they respond beautifully to every playing style and musical context. No matter the guitar or amp, these pickups deliver clarity, balance, and character without ever sounding sterile or exaggerated.

What really sets them apart is how alive they feel. They translate nuance, touch, and dynamics effortlessly, making the instrument feel more inspiring and expressive. These are pickups you can rely on in the studio, on stage, and across genres.

James’ work deserves special recognition. His craftsmanship, attention to detail, and ear for tone are simply world-class. The B94 Legacy pickups don’t just meet boutique standards — they clearly exceed them. This is next-level pickup design, made by someone who deeply understands both musicians and tone.

Highly recommended. Once you play them, it’s hard to go back.

Was searching for a Canadian alternative to primarily US based boutique pickup manufacturers I have typically purchased from when I happened upon BTone. The company origins and foundations resonated with me and inspired my purchase of a set of the B43S Juiced for a full refurb of my first electric circa 1982. Very happy with the quality and sound ! very balanced and outstanding clarity! so much so that a tele build on my bench changed its single humbucker intent to a traditional pickup configuration so I could purchase a set of the B43 Juiced tele pickups which I'm excited to install. Currently eyeing the upcoming split P and J bass pickup offerings for a PJ build I also have on the bench ... very happy find, best wishes to you and your team in 2026 !

Owner's reply
Love this, thank you. Bringing your first electric back to life with the B43S Juiced means a lot to us.

The fact that they shifted your Tele build direction is the ultimate compliment.

No big story here. Bassists kept asking for it, so I gave the classic ’51 single-coil the BTone wind and built out the bass line. On demand, by request. That’s the whole story.
